Weight loss products recalled; contain ‘undeclared’ drug

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall of four weight lost dietary supplements made by Young You Corporation because an inspection by the FDA has found the products to contain an undeclared drug ingredient, sibutramine. Sibutramine is an FDA-approved appetite suppressant for weight loss, however it is not approved the product for use in the recalled Young You products, therefore the safety and effectiveness of the products are unknown.

The recalled products include the 30-capsule bottle or box of Slimbionic, One Weight Loss Pill 30 capsules, SlimDemand Capsules, and Botanical Weight Loss. All products were sold and distributed nationwide via the internet and the company’s Weight Loss and Rejuvenation Center in Tarzana, Calif.

The FDA warns that consumers may be at risk because siburamine is known to substantially increase blood pressure and/or pulse rate in some patients and may present a significant risk for patients with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias or stroke.

No illnesses or injuries have been reported to the company to date in connection with this product. Consumers who have the recalled products in their possession are advised to destroy them or return them to the company in Tarzana. Questions can be directed to Young You Corp at 818-344-3344.
