Skippy brand peanut butter spreads recalled

Unilever, manufacturer of Skippy brand peanut butter products, has notified consumers of a recall of its Skippy Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread and Skippy Reduced Fat Super Chunk Peanut Butter Spread. The manufacturer says testing reveals some of these products may contain salmonella bacteria.

Affected products are 16.3 ounce plastic jars with the following label information:

  • Universal product codes: 048001006812 and 048001006782 – these numbers can be found on the jar’s label below the bar code
  • “Best-if-used-by” dates: MAY1612LR1, MAY1712LR1, MAY1812LR1, MAY1912LR1, MAY2012LR1 and MAY 2112LR1 – information can be found on the jar lid.

There have been no reports of illness associated with this product recall.
