Target recalls 69,000 children’s sitting stools due to reports of stools collapsing during use

Recall childrens sitting stools 435x380 Target recalls 69,000 childrens sitting stools due to reports of stools collapsing during useTarget Corporation, the second-largest discount retailer in the United States, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have announced a recall of approximately 69,000 Circo-brand Chloe & Conner Sitting Stools. The recall is due to the stabilizing bar, which can crack and cause the stool to collapse, thus posing a fall hazard to the user.

Sold as part of the Circo-brand Chloe & Conner Collection, the assembled children’s sitting stools measure 11 inches tall by 11 inches wide by 11 inches deep and were sold in red, navy and pink. A printed sticker on the underside of the stools will feature item numbers 249200218 (red), 249200207 (white), 249200217 (navy), 249200208 (pink).

Before the initiated recall, Target received seven reports of the stools breaking or collapsing, causing a child to fall. Five of the seven reports incidents involved minor injuries such as bumps, bruises and cuts.

From April 2012 through June 2013, the recalled stools were sold exclusively at Target stores nationwide for about $15. The stools were manufactured in China by L. Powell Acquisition Corporation of California.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the stool and return it to a nearby Target store for a full refund.
