Bristol Valley cocktail glasses recalled due to reports of unexpected breakage during use

Recall cocktail glass 435x615 Bristol Valley cocktail glasses recalled due to reports of unexpected breakage during useAfter events of unexpected breakage during use reported, Libbey Glass Inc., in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), will recall more than 215,000 Bristol Valley cocktail glasses with sheer rims.

The Bristol Valley model 8555SR cocktail glasses feature sheer rims made of clear, colorless glass in a 7.75 ounce cocktail design. Measuring about 6 ¼ inches high, 3 ¼ inches wide at the base and 4 ¼ inches wide at the top, the recalled glasses were sold individually and in 24/piece cartons for commercial users.

Approximately 16 reports have been made to Libbey from commercial customers involving glasses breaking. One report details an event regarding a minor laceration to a restaurant patron after the glass broke during use.

From January 2013 through November 2013, the recalled cocktail glasses were sold to commercial customers for use in food service establishments, at the Libbey Outlet Store in Shreveport, La., and at various independent liquor stores nationwide for between $1 and $4 per glass. The glasses were manufactured in the United States.

Consumers that have purchased the recalled glasses should immediately return them to the store of purchase for a full refund. Commercial consumers can contact Libbey Glass Inc. to organize for destruction of the product and receipt of a credit, refund or replacement.
