Grumpy Cat, the popular internet icon that rose to fame in 2013, has three styles of stuffed animal toys currently under recall. Ganz, the company responsible for manufacturing the toys, is issuing the recall because of the plush’s eyes which may become detached, posing a choking hazard to young children.
The three styles of Grumpy Cat plush being recalled include an 8-inch Grumpy Cat in laying position, a 5-inch long Grumpy Cat sitting and a 4-inch Grumpy Cat key chain. Each toy is multi-colored with the colors white, dark brown, light brown and gray fur material. Grumpy Cat’s eyes are blue crystal, lids half closed and a down-turned mouth with white whiskers. The toy is labeled for use with children ages 3 and older. A black plastic key clip is at the top of the head on the Grumpy Cat key chain. Printed on the sewn-in label, the batch and model number will be located near the tail of the cat.
