After reports of overheating and various other mishaps, DGL Group, in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has announced a sizable recall of nearly 100,000 Vibe USB Mobile Power Bars.
Known as the portable, “on the go” power supply for USB-chargeable devices, the Vibe USB mobile power bars were sold in white, black, green, blue, purple and pink. Each recalled power bar featured a cord with a key-ring attached at its end, measuring about one square inch by three inches long. The face of the device has “Power Bank” embossed on it while “Vibe and “Power Bar” are printed on the front of its black packaging. The model number, FB-Bar, can be found below the UPC code on the bottom of the packaging.
Although no injuries have been reported yet, DGL Group has received information on six incidents resulting in melted parts, smoking, leaking batteries and even fire due to the bursting, overheated power bars. Some minor property damage was also reported.
From January 2014 to March 2014, the recalled mobile power bars were sold exclusively for about $5 at Five Below stores nationwide. The products were manufactured in China.
Consumers that have identified DGL Group’s recalled Vibe USB Mobile Power Bars are asked to stop using the product, unplug it from any electrical outlets and return it to DGL Group. A processed return will lead to a full refund and a free $5 coupon towards another purchase at Five Below stores.
