Recall power strips Legrand Wiremold announces recall of nearly 46,000 Under Cabinet Power Strips due to poor connectionsDue to substandard electrical connections that may lead to overheating, Legrand Wiremold and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have announced a recall of approximately 46,000 Under-Cabinet Power Strips.

Featuring part number PX1001, all Wiremold and Plugmold under-cabinet power and lighting strips under recall have four outlets and one fluorescent bulb, and were manufactured from January 20011 through December 2013.

The power strip came in a red package with the worlds “Legrand” and “Under Cabinet Power and Lighting” on the top front and “Wiremold-Series Part PX1001” on the bottom front during the period January 2011 to June 2012. However, from July 2012 through April 2013, the recalled power strips were sold in a white package with the word “Legrand “on the top front and “Plugmold Power Light,” “Under-Cabinet Power and Lighting” and “PX1001” on the bottom front.

The manufacture date code can be found on the bottom of the recalled power strip in a circle. The year is shown as “11,” “12” or “13” in the center with an arrow pointing to the number representing the month. The bottom of the power strip also has part number PX1001 and UPC number 0 86698 00125 3.

Although no injuries were reported, Legrand Wiremold did receive information regarding one accident that occurred due to the recalled power strip.

Sold for roughly $40, the recalled power strips were sold at Ace Hawrdware, CED, City Electric, Cortland Wholesale, Crawford Electric, Do it Best, Bill Country Electric, Home Depot, Orgill, Rexel, Spingfield Electric, Sutherland, TEC Electric, True Value Hardware and World Electric stores nationwide. The power strips were also sold online at Amazon.com. All power strips involved with this recalled were sold between February 2011 and April 2014.

The customers currently in possession of one or more of the recalled Legrand Wiremold Under-Cabinet Power Strips should immediately unplug and stop using the power strips until they are able to return them to Legrand Wiremold for a full refund.
