Toys R Us, the popular American toy retailer, has announced a recall of nearly 30,000 “Just Like Home Toy Toaster Sets.” The recalled toy toaster sets include pieces of plastic toast, which can break off into small pieces and create sharp edges that pose hazards to small children. In addition to the 30,000 sets recalled in the U.S., roughly 6,000 are also under recall in Canada.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recall, the plastic toy toaster sets are a teal blue with silver trim around the slice opening on top. The handle on the side and three-dimensional adjustment knob on the front are both orange. The front right bottom of the recalled toy toaster has “just like home” printed in white. Measuring at about 4 inches high by 5-1/2 inches long by 2 inches wide, the recalled toy toaster set was sold along with two plastic toast slices and two plastic half bagel slice accessories. The white label on the bottom of the toaster has the model number 5F60589.
From July 2013 through August 2014, the recalled toy toaster sets were sold nationwide and online exclusively through Toys R Us outlets found online and in stores. No injuries have yet resulted from the recalled toy toaster sets.
Toys R Us and CPSC ask that you immediately remove the recalled toy toaster sets from children and take them to your nearest Toys R Us location to receive a full refund of your purchase.
