Cost Plus World Market has announced a nearly twist swivel stool recall involving close to 125,000 stools following the discovery that an important weld joint may break during use and cause the seat’s occupant to fall.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recalled twist swivel stools featured a light brown-finish wood seat and base, along with four black metal legs. Each stool measured about 24.5 inches high when left un-extended, but could reach a height of 29.5 inches when extended. The stool seat’s underside has a SKU number of 438000 printed on the UPC sticker.
Before the swivel stool recall was announced, World Market was made aware of 12 different incidents where the stool’s weld joint broke; however, no injuries have yet been reported. The stools were manufactured in Indonesia.
From February 2011 through February 2015, the recalled swivel stools were sold exclusively at Cost Plus World Market and World Market stores nationwide, as well as online at www.worldmarket.com.
All Cost Plus World Market and World Market stores will be accepting the recalled swivel stools in exchange for full refunds to keep its customers safe. Replacement stools are currently being manufactured and can be bought with the refund money.
