Folding knife recall initiated after reports of sudden openings, lacerations

Recall folding knife Gerber 375x210 Folding knife recall initiated after reports of sudden openings, lacerationsGerber Legendary Blades announced a folding knife recall after reports indicate that the locking mechanism in the knife assembly may fail to hold the blade down, resulting in lacerations to unsuspecting consumers.

According to Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the Cohort folding knife features either a black or dark gray anodized aluminum handle with the tail end having a lanyard hole. In order to become fully ended, the Cohort folding knife must be held open using the liner lock function, and should measure about seven inches long, as opposed to four inches when closed.

The actual knife blade only measures three inches long, weighing just fewer than three ounces. The non-clip side of the blade displays the Gerber “sword and shield” trademark logo in silver, while the side of the knife clip displays the Gerber name.

To find the model numbers of affected folding knives, check the lower-right corner on the rear of the handing blister packaging. The box packaging also features the model number on the bottom of the box. The list of included model and UPC numbers can found below:
