Nearly 4,000 vertical roasters are now under recall by TCC Cooking Company after reports that the roasters can break or shatter during use, putting consumers at risk of receiving lacerations and burns.
The black roasters are made of a flameproof ceramic with “CHEFS” branding and consist of a round roasting pan with handles with a removable insert. The roasting pans measure about 11.75 inches in diameter on the inside and 2.5 inches high. The removable insert is 4.5 inches high and measures 7.5 inches in diameter from the base. The center of the rimmed base features the CHEFS logo.
Before the vertical roaster recall was announced, TCC Cooking Company received 25 reports of the defective roasters either breaking or shattering. No injuries have yet been reported. The recalled roasters were manufactured in China.
From April 2014 through May 2015, the recalled roasters were sold for between $35 and $50 at Chefs.com, Cooking.com, Target.com and other online retailers. The roasters were not available in stores.
If you own one or more of the recalled roasters, TCC Cooking Company and the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have specific instructions on how to receive a refund. If the purchase was conducted through Target, the consumer should contact any Target location to receive a full refund. If you purchased the recalled roaster through another vendor, contact TCC Cooking Company about the recall to receive a gift card equal to the purchase price.
