SOS Telecom, Inc. is recalling all lots of dietary supplements marketed for male sexual enhancement because the products were found to contain sildenafil, the active ingredient in the erectile dysfunction medication Viagra. The dietary supplements do not disclose on the products’ labels that they contain sildenafil, and the company is not authorized to market the medication.
The undeclared ingredient was found in SOS Telecom’s dietary supplements during routine testing by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Affected products include the following:
- Tiger-X (Lot No: 9236999; Best use by: 12/16/2016): 1 capsules per pack / 24 single packs per box.
- Ninja-X (Lot: 7920888; Best Use by: 6/31/2018) 1 capsules per pack / 24 single packs per box.
- Ginseng Power-X (Lot: 7788965; Best use by: 10/15/2018) 1 capsules per pack / 24 single packs per box.
- Super Samurai-X (Lot No: 7920499; Best use by: 10/15/2016) 1 capsules per pack / 24 single packs per box.
The FDA warned that undeclared sildenafil poses a threat to consumers because the drug may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs such as nitroglycerin and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Individuals with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take nitrates. Also, the sildenafil may cause side effects such as headaches and flushing.
Tiger-X, Ninja-X, Ginseng Powder-X, and Super Samurai-X were sold through numerous retailers, including convenience stores and gas stations. Consumers and retailers who have these products should stop using and/or distributing them immediately.
Any adverse reactions related to the dietary supplements involved in this recall should be reported to the FDA MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting Program at www.FDA.gov/MedWatch/Report.htm.
