The recalled bicycles may become dangerous if the bicycle’s rear wheel comes out of the dropout, which causes fractures in the rear triangle area and puts riders at risk of injury.

The bicycle recall specifies the 2016 Specialized S-Works Venge Vias and Venge Pro Vias road bicycles. The bicycles were sold in one of the following color combinations:  black, white, red and black, white and black, and green and blue color combinations. Before the bicycle recall was announced, Specialized Bicycle Components and CPSC learned of seven incidents involving the discovery of fractures within the bicycle’s rear triangle; however, only one of the seven resulted in a rider suffering a minor injury.

From July 2015 through September 2016, the recalled road bicycles were sold for between $6,200 and $12,9000 at authorized Specialized retailers across the nation. The recalled bicycles were manufactured in China.
