GNC dietary supplements recalled due to undeclared major allergen

ucm529924 122x210 GNC dietary supplements recalled due to undeclared major allergen Nutra Manufacturing, Inc., is recalling one lot of GNC Women’s Ultra Mega Time Release dietary supplements because they may contain an undeclared major food allergen, milk. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk are at risk of having a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The recall affects the supplements sold in 180-count containers with the UPC 048107158910, the lot number 3044FQ2024, and an expiration date of June 2018. The lot number can be found on the bottom of the product box and the side panel of the product label. The affected dietary supplements were distributed beginning Aug. 23, 2016, through the present, and is packaged in HDPE plastic bottle with a child-resistant closure.

The problem was discovered by Nutra at it’s Pittsburgh manufacturing facility. To date, there have been no cases of persons with milk allergies reporting a reaction to this product.

Consumers with GNC Women’s Ultra Mega Time Release dietary supplements are asked to check the lot number on the product label and not consume the product if it is affected by the recall. Instead, the product can be returned to the GNC retail location where it was purchased for a full refund.

Any adverse events related to these dietary supplements should be reported to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting Program at www.FDA.gov/MedWatch/Report.htm.
