worker on ladder 332x210 Ladder recall announced by Wing Enterprises; approximately 37K affectedNearly 37,000 Little Giant multipurpose ladders are under recall by Wing Enterprises upon learning the locking pins/rung fasteners may fail during use, putting consumers at risk of a serious fall hazard.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the defective ladders involved are the Little Giant Velocity™, LT™ and Liberty™ multipurpose ladders. Each of the ladders contain joints that allow it to bend and lock in a variety of different positions. The side of each ladder has “Little Giant,” the model name, as well as its model and part numbers printed.

Before the ladder recall was announced, Wing Enterprises and CPSC learned of two incidents were the locking pins/rung fasteners failed during use, though no injuries were reported. The recalled ladders were manufactured in China.

From March 2016 through February 2017, the recalled ladders were sold for between $200 and $320 at AAFES, NEXCOM, PPG Paints stores nationwide.

The ladders were also made available through the following online retailers: Amazon.com, DirectBuy.com, Eladders.com, Grainger.com, Groupon.com, Homedepot.com, Houzz.com, Laddersales.com, LittleGiantLadder.com, Lowes.com, Overstock.com, Samsclub.com, Target.com, Wayfair.com, Zorotools.com, 1800Ladders.com and other web retailers.

Consumers in possession of one or more of the recalled ladders should stop using the product until they have contacted Wing Enterprises to receive a free repair kit. The repair kit consists of ABS nylon inserts that consumers can install without the use of any other tools.
