AdvoCare International is recalling two lots of Muscle Strength and four lots of Nighttime Recovery dietary supplements because they may contain milk. This ingredient is not listed on the bottles and could cause an allergic reaction in people who are sensitive to milk and milk products.
People who are highly sensitive to milk protein who consume these caplets from these lots may experience symptoms common to milk allergies such as gastrointestinal disturbances or allergenic skin reactions. Some of these reactions may be intense.
The company says it anticipates that anyone who does experience an allergic reaction to the milk in these products would likely see a quick resolution and medical treatment shouldn’t be necessary. To date, AdvoCare has not received any reports of adverse events related to milk allergen in these products.
Affected supplements were distributed nationwide through AdvoCare and its independent distributors. Affected product includes 15,640 units of Muscle Strength, Product code: P3221 with lot numbers: 7063341, 7082161, and sold between Nov. 15, 2017-March 29, 2018, and 48,176 units of Nighttime Recovery, Product code: P3201 lot numbers: 7081841, 7063321, 7052411, 7090471, sold between Dec. 15, 2017-March 28, 2018.
During a routine formula review, the presence of milk was identified in Ashwagandha, a raw ingredient common in both the Muscle Strength and Nighttime Recovery supplements. AdvoCare has suspended sales of these two supplements during the recall, and communications were sent to all distributors and customers who purchased the products through the AdvoCare website. Distributors were told to inform their customers of this concern.
Any adverse events experienced after using these products should be reported to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Adverse Event Reporting Program at www.FDA.gov/MedWatch/Report.htm.
