Registration is now open for the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization (ADAO)’s 15th annual International Asbestos Awareness and Prevention Conference, scheduled for April 5-7, 2019, in Washington, D.C.
The conference brings together experts, survivors, unions and lawmakers from nearly 20 countries to connect and share the latest information about education, advocacy, and community support efforts to ban the mining, import, export, sale and use of asbestos in order to eliminate asbestos-related diseases like asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma, a rare but deadly form of cancer that develops in the lining of internal organs.
The event is the only annual asbestos conference of its kind, and features experts from around the world. The academic conference gives attendees a unique opportunity to connect with leaders and influencers in the asbestos prevention community, as well as victims and family members sharing in the fight against asbestos.
Conference activities include a March for Justice and Remembrance, trolley tour, and a Gala and Awards Ceremony. Programs are focused on topics such as medical advancements in diagnosing and treating mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases, and advocacy efforts in banning asbestos around the world.
The conference will be held at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Arlington, Virginia. Registration ranges from $175 for patients, caregivers and students, to $350 for professionals. The Saturday Awards dinner costs $100. To register, visit the ADAO website.
