Federal court holds Chinese drywall companies in contempt for ignoring U.S. litigation

China’s state-owned drywall manufacturers have abandoned litigation in the U.S. involving thousands of American homeowners who sued the companies over allegedly toxic and corrosive drywall they claim has damaged their homes and their health. In addition to not responding to the multidistrict litigation (MDL) in a Louisiana federal court, Taishan Gypsum Co. The popular grocery chain Publix, in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has announced a recall of nearly 4,000 Glass Beverage Dispensers. An injury hazard is presented by the flawed dispensers due to the metal stand supporting the glass dispenser, which is easily breakable. The glass beverage dispensers feature a clear glass ovoid-shaped container along with a clear glass lid, a wire three-legged metal stand and a silver spigot. Nearly 1.4 million Gibson Leather Task Chairs recalled by Office Depot after reports of breakage

Office Depot®, the popular office supply company in the United States, has announced an extraordinary recall of about 1.4 million Gibson Leather Task Chairs. According to the company, the chairs have a fragile mounting plate weld, which may break and separate from the base of the chair during use. Avon recalls more than 475,000 Ergonomic Eyelash Curlers due to eye injury hazard

Avon, the fifth-largest beauty company in the world, announced a recall of more than 475,000 Ergonomic Eyelash Curlers in the U.S. and in excess of 40,000 in Canada. A metal pin is exposed if the recalled eyelash curler breaks, which poses an eye injury hazard to its consumers. The recalled Avon Ergonomic Eyelash Curlers are silver with black ergonomic finger grips. The silver upper lash curling bar has the word “Avon” engraved on it. Marlboro 3-in-1 flashlights recalled by AGDC due to explosions, ignitions posing burn and injury hazard

Roughly 365,000 units of a 3-in-1 flashlight, compass and match holder were recalled by Altria Group Distribution Company (AGDC). The products were originally distributed as a promotional item for Marlboro brand cigarettes; however, the matches inside the match holder can ignite unexpectedly when they come in contact with the striker beneath the compass cap. Ganz, the company responsible for manufacturing the toys, is issuing the recall because of the plush’s eyes which may become detached, posing a choking hazard to young children. Eastman Footwear, a shoe company based in New York, has announced a recall of more than 12,000 Coleman Runestone Style Children’s Shoes. The recalled shoes contain metal rivets surrounding the shoestring holes, which can have very sharp edges, posing a laceration hazard to consumers. LEM Products, a meat processing equipment and supplies company based out of Ohio, in conjunction with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has announced a recall expansion of about 3,000 5-tray dehydrators with digital timers. These dehydrators pose a shock risk to consumers due to the damaged wiring within the equipment. If this wiring comes into contact with a metal bracket inside the machine, an unanticipated shock can occur, potentially harming both consumers and nearby property. Around 183,000 Fred & Friends Chill Baby Artiste, Volume and Panic pacifiers have been recalled after the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) learned the pacifiers did not meet federal safety standards.
