What goes with hash browns? For some,  the answer might just be golf balls. Wait, what? According to an announcement by McCain Foods USA, their hash browns could “be contaminated with extraneous golf ball materials, that despite (their) stringent supply standards may have been inadvertently harvested with potatoes used to make this product.” Though no injuries have been reported, the golf ball pieces pose a choking and injury hazard, and two brands of hash browns are under recall. More than 2,000 Moogy plush toys sold by Miniland Educational are subject to recall after reports that the red button on the toy’s left pocket may detach while in use, thus posing a choking hazard to young children. Water bottle recall announced by Zac Designs due to choking hazard

Zak Designs, a tabletop and dinnerware accessories company founded in 1976, has announced water bottle recall comprising of nearly 178,000 26-ounce water bottles. The recalled water bottles contain an inner plastic straw in the flip-top part of the twist-off cap, which may break and pose a choking hazard to unsuspecting consumers. According to the water bottle recall, the 26-ounce bottles are roughly 10 inches tall with a flip-top spout featuring color inner plastic straws. More than 2 million Hello Kitty whistle toys recalled by McDonald’s due to reports of choking

McDonald’s has announced an enormous recall of roughly 2.3 million “Hello Kitty® Birthday Lollipop” whistles. The Hello Kitty whistle toys recalled are affected by small components within the whistle that may detach, possibly triggering a choking or asphyxiation incident for young children. The whistles featured in this recall are red with a plastic Hello Kitty figure carrying a heart-shaped lollipop in hand. Refunds for recalled Buckyballs magnets now available online through January 2015

Customers who purchased high-powered magnets known as Buckyballs or Buckycubes made by Maxfield and Oberton Holdings, which is no longer in business, may finally apply for a refund for the recalled products. Owners of this product can return the magnets and get a full refund. Government sues importers of children’s products to stop flow of dangerous toys to U.S.

The U.S. government has taken legal action against four California companies and six individuals in an effort to halt their illegal importation of dangerous children’s products containing lead, phthalates, small parts that pose a hazard to young children, and other potentially deadly defects. The recall was issued after the discovery that zipper pull tabs and sliders can detach, posing a choking hazard to infants in contact with the blanket.
