Another Trader Joe’s Recall Brings Food Safety Into Question

Due to a possible presence of the bacteria Listeria, Trader Joe’s, a privately held chain of specialty grocery stores, has announced a recall of 4,865 pounds of Trader Joe’s brand Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice entrées.  While 19 cartons of the recalled product have been halted at the distribution center, 240 cartons have already circulated to Trader Joe’s retail stores along the East Coast. Eye and nasal sprays made by Dallas, Texas-based Wholistic Herbs Inc., are being recalled because the solutions may not be sterile and could lead to infections. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with DD Traders Inc., dba Demdaco of Leawood, Kansas, has announced the recall of tea lights included in Carruth Candleholder Collection sets. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with Changzhou Globe Tool Group Co. Ltd., of China, has announced a voluntary recall of the Task Force 5-ton electric log splitters. These machines have a hydraulic arm that, during use, slides under the handle used to move the machine. Food maker Kashi, known for its all-natural foods, has issued a nationwide recall for several of its frozen pizza products. The company reports possible plastic fragments in the crust. The recall encompasses approximately 11,000 cases of frozen pizzas, including the Mediterranean Thin Crust Pizza, Roasted Vegetable Thin Crust Pizza and Mushroom Trio and Spinach Thin Crust Pizza.
