HP Recalls Notebooks, Workstations Over Lithium Battery Fire Risk

Hewlett-Packard (HP) said it is voluntarily recalling certain notebook computers and mobile workstation computers containing lithium-ion batteries that can potentially overheat posing a risk of fire, burn injuries, and property damage. HP is urging customers to check their devices to see if they are affected by the recall. The recall covers the battery only and not the entire device. According to the company, the affected computers and batteries were manufactured December 2015 and December 2017. More than 5.5M power cords recalled by Hewlett-Packard due to property damage, overheating

Hewlett-Packard (HP), the multinational information technology corporation, has announced an immense recall of nearly 5.6 million notebook computer AC power cords, which have the potential to overheat and start a fire. Before the recall’s announcement, HP received word of 29 incidents involving the power cords overheating, melting or charring. As a result, two consumers reported minor burns while 13 claimed minor property damage. HP’s LS-15 AC power cord was distributed by HP and Compaq notebook and mini notebook computers and came with other AC adapter-powered accessories.
