Proposed class of babies born addicted to opioids targets drug companies

More than 20 drug companies were hit with a proposed class action brought by dozens of children who were born addicted to opioid painkillers, a condition known as Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, or NAS. The latest attack in the fight to curb the opioid epidemic blames the pharmaceutical companies for ignoring regulations in order to increase their profits, which allowed the drugs into the black market, further fueling the nation’s opioid crisis. Note to CMV drivers: Roadcheck 2010 takes place June 8-10

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) will help mobilize thousands of roadside inspectors who patrol American and Canadian highways June 8-10 for Roadcheck 2010. Approximately 14 trucks and buses will be inspected every minute during the intense three-day campaign. Typically, 20 percent of vehicles are found in violation of federal safety standards and placed out of service, based on Roadchecks in previous years.
