Pool safety is something we often do not think about being adults, but when it comes to children it is extremely important. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has launched an annual campaign called “Pool Safely” after recent studies showed that nearly 400 drownings occur each year in children 15 years of age or younger. According to CPSC statistics, there have been 4,900 pool- or spa-related emergency department-treated submersion injuries for children younger than 15, with 78 percent (4,000) of the injured being younger than 5.
