Texas Woman Sues Fiat Chrysler Over Jeep Rollaway Injuries

A San Antonio, Texas, woman has filed a personal injury complaint against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles over injuries she allegedly sustained when her 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee rolled over her foot. Sonya Dawson, 49, filed her lawsuit in federal court in San Antonio. Like many similar suits filed against Fiat Chrysler, Ms. Dawson alleges the gear shifter the automaker installed in some of its vehicles is defectively designed and prone to cause rollaway accidents. Honda Recalls 350,000 2016 Civics For Brake-Related Rollaway Risk

American Honda Motor Co. said Thursday it is recalling about 350,000 Civic coupes and sedans in the United States to fix a defect affecting the vehicles’ electronic parking brake that could allow them to roll away. The recall affects two-door and four-door 1.5L turbo and 2.0L Civic vehicles from the 2016 model year. Honda said the electronic parking brake may not work when it is applied immediately after turning the ignition off. NHTSA announces Jeep rollaway probe expansion to include more Chrysler vehicles

Jeep Cherokee rollaway incidents have been a major concern of the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for some time, with more than 100 incidents reported thus far. In order to protect other drivers from similar experiences, the NHTSA has expanded its probe to include several other Chrysler vehicles. The following Chrysler vehicles are now included in the NHTSA’s rollaway probe: 2012-14 Dodge Chargers and Chrysler 300s with 3.6L engines, as well as the 2014-15 Grand Cherokees already under investigation. Ford has announced a recall of nearly 85,000 cars and SUVs for a problem with the axle that increases the risk or a crash or for vehicles to roll out of the “park” position. The recall encompasses the 2012-2014 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX, the 2013-2014 Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT, and the 2013-2014 Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS. About 694,000 Toyota Siennas, second-best-selling minivan in the US, recalled due to rollaways

Due to reports of “minor” accidents involving vehicles rolling away, Toyota Motor Corp. has announced a recall of about 694,000 Sienna minivans in North America, citing a shift lever issue. According to Toyota USA, the problem lies with the possibly damaged shift lock solenoid installed in the vehicles. The damaged lock could enable the minivan to shift out of “park” and roll away without the driver depressing the brake pedal.
