Feds Announce Two Tire Recalls; Problems Pose Crash Risk For Trucks

Federal auto safety regulators announced two tire recalls affecting thousands of tires made by Goodyear Tire and Rubber and Tireco Inc. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said that the Goodyear tires are being recalled for an adhesion problem between the tread and the top belt. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said it is investigating the charter bus crash that killed four people and injured 42 others Saturday afternoon in Hamlet, N.C. The charter bus, registered to Sandy River Baptist Church in Chester, S.C., was carrying football players from the Ramah Jucco Academy football program of Rock Hill, S.C. Ford Motor Company issued a safety recall Wednesday of more than 200,000 vehicles in the United States and Canada, citing potential defects in the powertrain control module that could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
