Nearly 1.2 million Rival brand electric water kettles sold exclusively at Walmart stores are now under recall by the store. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recalled water kettle’s heating element is failing during use, causing the product to rupture and potentially burn and/or shock the user. The electric water kettle recall includes all of the Rival brand kettles with model numbers WK8283CU and WK8283CUY, which can be found on the product’s label. Electric griddle recall announced by CPSC due to shock hazard; exclusively sold by Walmart

Retail giant Walmart, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), has announced that nearly 330,000 of its Rival brand electric griddles are now under recall. The recalled griddles feature a defective heating element, which may break and allow water to pass through, thus posing a shock hazard if the griddle is plugged into an electrical outlet. The electric griddle recall only affects Rival brand electric griddles with model number XJ-14207. NTSB: Truck Driver Fatigue, Speeding Caused Tracy Morgan Crash

A Walmart truck driver who caused a deadly crash on the New Jersey Turnpike that severely injured comedian Tracy Morgan was fatigued and speeding, federal investigators concluded Tuesday. According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), driver Kevin Roper, 35, was traveling 65 mph in a 45 mph zone when he plowed into the back of Mr. Morgan’s limo van. The collision killed Mr. Morgan’s friend and fellow comedian James “Jimmy Mack” McNair of Peekskill, N.Y., and injured several others. Actor-Comedian Tracy Morgan has reached a settlement with Walmart after one of the retail giant’s tractor trailers plowed into the back of his vehicle at full speed last year, leaving him critically injured and his longtime friend dead.
