Worker’s Death Triggers Investigation of Missouri Construction Site

Federal authorities are taking over the investigation of a construction worker’s death Saturday morning at the site of a new senior center being built in Carthage, Mo. Luis Estrada, 29, of El Paso, Texas, died from blunt-force injuries he sustained in a falling accident. Authorities said that Mr. Estrada was declared dead upon his arrival at Mercy Joplin Hospital in Joplin, Mo., Sat. morning. Mr. Estrada, an employee of Munda Hernandez Construction of El Paso, Texas, was part of a construction crew that is building an assisted living facility for seniors in the south side of the city. OSHA investigating FedEx after third employee death in five years

MEMPHIS, Tenn – FedEx faces a federal investigation following the death of an employee at the Memphis FedEx hub, the site of three workplace deaths in five years. According to WHBQ Fox 13, Chris Higginbottom, a 39-year-old single father of two boys, died Sunday morning during an early morning shift. Police investigating Mr. Higginbottom’s death said he was driving a large vehicle known as a “tug” into a parked trailer. Tugs are used to move cargo between FedEx airplanes and warehouses. Safety violations result in deadly explosion, $1.2 million fine

A New Hampshire gunpowder substitute manufacturer faces federal fines of $1.2 million following a deadly plant explosion in May that killed two workers who had been on the job for just a month. Construction accident kills two and injures two near Dallas

Two construction workers were killed and two seriously injured last Thursday morning in a work site accident in Lewisville, Texas about 20 miles north of Dallas. According to initial reports, 34-year-old Gerardo Horta of Dallas and Rafael Ruiz-Garcia, 41, of Denton were killed when the boom of a cement truck collapsed, striking them and the other workers.
